Without clearly referring to the rape issue and the violence used against Rahmouna Dahousse, Algeria, through the voice of the official in charge of relations with the MINURSO and its permanent representative to the United Nations, has recognized that the security of the international officials in Tindouf is no more certain. Those “recommendations” of the Algerian authorities fit with the concern of trying to contain the increasing criminality inside the camps and to reduce the risk of damaging their reputation in case another international official came to be victim of violence. Making an anonymous declaration, an official from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs gives way to his anger: “It is not up to the Ministry to do the work requested from the army, we deal with diplomacy not with security”.

According to reliable and confirmed information transmitted to the « Polisario Confidentiel », an Algerian HCR civil servant, Rahmouna Dahousse, was gang raped by three face-masked individuals, while she was about to start an inspection round in the camps managed by the Polisario Front, in the Algerian South-West. The three assailants have used physical violence against the international civil servant. The latter was abandoned in the early morning after the gangbang also called “in turns rape”. The, she was taken in by the military police before being taken to the health center to be examined.
The doctor on duty issued a two-month sick leave, and noticed the multiple rapes which Rahmouna Dahousse underwent, as well as assault and battery. As the latter wanted to lodge a complaint, a mechanism led by the Polisario Front leadership was immediately set in motion to try to dissuade her. Aware about the significant damages that might tarnish again the Guerrilla movement’s image, the communication officials of Mohammed Abdelaziz tried thus to compromise, and suggested to send Khadija Hamdi, the wife of the Secretary General of the Polisario, to find a common ground.

According to sources close to the Polisario Front leadership, a small crisis meeting was held in Washington after the two informal talk rounds in Armonk, gathering a number of activists and lobbyists close to Algeria and the Guerrilla movement. Once again, it is the everlasting Mouloud Saïd, representative of the Front in the American political capital who coordinated debates, with the assistance of the Algerian Ambassador Baali. The idea developed by the Guerrilla movement representatives and the Algerian Ambassador revolves around trying to hijack the American citizens who participated in the revolutionary movements of the Southern America in the 70s, and to organize them within a NGO screen that would be used to spread the Guerrilla’s message to the United States, about self-determination and …human rights theme.
